Ethan and his laundry basket

Posted on:

Ethan loves helping us with laundry (not literally).  He just loves playing with the basket full with laundry.  He enjoy pulling the basket towards him and letting it go, seeing how the basket tipped back onto the ground.

The green patch on his forehead is a piece of aloe vera.  He had been scratching his forehead so badly that he wounded his forehead.  So, grandma found that aloe vera does help in healing the wound in a shorter time (before he scratch himself again)

After his birthlight swim lesson at Arthur’s.  We wrapped him up in  a towel with his wet swim suit so he wont be cold on our way up for his bath.  Do you see any similarities between Day 2 and 8 months?  What a changed that did not even occur to me!

Yes, shockingly, I was placed 4th in F 30-34. Then we found out that the other lady that was way in ahead of me fainted during the run, and so I race.  It was a very “hot” race.  There werent any shades on both the bike and the run course.  I got blisters on both my feet because my socks and shoes were wet from splashing water over my head.  Lesson learned.!  Not sure if I have the courage to do this race again.  Although I really enjoyed the swim here versus the one in Hualien.  I learned to start from the very back and avoid the crowd.  I was swimming with those with buoy.  I was shock to see some people actually use the buoy as a flotation device during the swim.  Is this still a race?

Ethan, Aleayahs and Zach

Posted on:

Once a week, Ethan goes to Aleayah’s house to join couple other babies of his age (Ethan is the youngest) in the birthlight swim lesson.  After the swim, they would take a nap, while the adults chat and relax away.  Coincidentally, all of them would nap and wake at about the same time.  After their nap, they get to play with each other in Aleayahs “play ring”.  It is a lot of fun seeing them playing with each other, where we tried to install the concept of “sharing”, “be gentle”.

Both Ethan and Aleayahs looked immensely at Zach, who was crying and going to his mummy.  Classic candid picture.

Zach is who we call the Angel baby. He is the one who can sit straight on an adult chair and eat without creating a mess. He is also the only one who can balance a Tiger on his head. He is focusing hard on playing with his ball, while Ethan has move his head a zillion times.

Breast Milk ice cream

Posted on:

The summer is coming and Ethan inherent my tendency to sweat and becomes overheated.  During our trip to Hualien, he loves tasting on my ice cream, so thought that I could also make him an ice cream that would be suitable for him using breast milk.  As I was looking for recipe, I came across a cafe that sells ice cream made with human breast milk selling for $20 pounds per scoop.  Ouch.

Rice Dumping Festival

Posted on:

This past weekend was the rice dumpling festival.  This is the day where we would have a family gathering and eat rice dumplings.  In Taiwan, it is even a national holiday!

The history of rice dumpling festival originates from a man who tried to advice the king the country.  However the king refused to listen to his advice.  Out of despair and disappointment, he jumped into the river and committed suicide.  The villagers were afraid that the fish or other animals would eat his corpse and so made these rice dumpling to feed the fishes.
